Makeup Course Week 4

Le Smokey eye....
Whats not to love, we got to do a smokey eye, I had a smokin model by the name of Sarah, I forgot to do a before, but we had SO much fun.  I've always been terrified for lashes BUT apparently I'm a natural, the word 'perfect' was thrown around... huzzah! Annnnd then we decided that perfect lashes shouldn't go to waste, soooo we went and had some wines! Makeup followed by wine, what's not to love!!!!

WOWZA! Sarah doesn't wear makeup, she says she doesn't know how to put it on do she doesn't try,  but look how well she pulls it off.  She also says she hates her eyes, they're too round.  She also said a very politically incorrect statement about how round they were, but its not for here....but look, those eyes don't look round to me!!! This particular picture make it to Facebook because I was pretty damn proud, about half way through the 2nd wine I looked over and for a fleeting second had that 'I wish I could do makeup that well' feeling....BUT I CAN, because I did! heck yes.

Beast and Beauty Makeup Swap

Makeup Coure week 3

For this week we tried to use the members of our class for practice on the classic/colour wash eye shadow techniques.  It was a bit of a failure because we ran out of time, I did however get a wonderful energetic model who let me do 2 different eyes of COMPLETELY different styles.  Picture a classic with browns and neutrals and a teal colour wash with an extended black winged eye liner!

Gorgeous Cosmetics iPrime

Recently I was in Melbourne and I stumbled across a free 30min eye tutorial at Gorgeous Cosmetics in David Jones.  Now given I'd gone to Melbourne to take part in a course that ended up being cancelled, this seemed like a good consolation prize.  I like to do as many courses as possible with as many artists as possible, because that way I can only ever expand my knowledge.  So I did, and I got to use their eyeshadow primer.

Its think and sticky, but with a base colour on top, it really does over amazing staying power as well as boldness to the shadows and blending is a dream.  At $35(I think, I don't actually remember) it wasn't cheap, and with primers becoming more readily available (Think Australis, think Essence) $30+ is a lot, but for the germophope in me, the fact this is in a tub, not a tube with a wand, and that it is great... I think its worth is. Also you only need a tiny bit.  Even if the lameo iPrime name is, well, lameo...
