Thai Haul

So, while in Thailand, I of course picked up some cool looking things.  They have 'Boots' over there, which is a UK helathy and beauty store, so I managed to pick up another one of my all time fave mascaras.
Also I have a dear friend who is Thai who agreed to translate if I needed it.

Makeup Course Week 2

Firstly a few apologies, I've been a bit absent from blogging, what, between, being a mum, working, studying, going on holiday and doing a few articles for Makeup Utopia and being sick...I have been slack.  There I said it, I neglected my wee blog and for that I am sorry, now then accept it, move on and together we can grow as people.

I'm clearly more than 3 weeks into my course, in fact I am amazingly almost half way through.  So far we have covered the perfect base, classic eyes, smokey eyes, classic bridal (I was away for this week and spewing about it because I actually needed to know it) 'glam' bride, which is a fancy way of saying, learn how to do bright red lips and eye liner flicks.  Then we had a week that was supposed to be assessment but wasn't, where we could practise.  In all of this, we have also masters lashes, concealers, primers etc etc.

Any way Week 2 was the perfect base, I conned  was lovingly assisted by Jo.  The lighting in our room is terrible and I'm shitful with remembering to take 'before' pics but here what I do have.

Like I say. crap lighting, I swear it looked better, the girl next to Jo kept saying how she loved her eyeshadow...either way the point was to get the foundation right.  Its pretty good.  We're using Napoleon Perdis makeup, which I'm not familiar with, so I have been trying to get my head around the foundation shades etc so I can get it more spot on.

Canadian Makeup

So you may remember be talking about taking part in the The Beast and Beauty Valentine Swap.  I was matched with a lovely lady called Paulina, who resides in Canada, you can view her YT vids here.

Let me just say that my stuff was sent surface mail, which is fine, but I didn't know, so I was really sad when I didn't get my swap goodies and every one else did.  Then I saw this post by Emma and the NYC IndividualEyes looked so awesome....it made me more than sad....ALAS, just as I was having a sook on Twitter my stuff was being delivered....

In a lovely V-day themed box of soap flowers and if you look closely, one of the NYC palettes I had coveted so much...huzzaaah.

Here's all the goodies:

• NYC IndividualEyes created for blue eyes (yeah, I have brown eyes, but I don't care, it has PURPLE e/s in it)

• A Revlon lip butter in Creme Brulee- a nice nude Thankfull I don't own this colour, but I must be on my way to a full set as this is my 7th




• A Maybelline Colorsensational in Rose Glimmer- a lovely glimmery nude





•  A Wet n Wild Silk Finish Blush (no idea why I don't seem to have a picture of this at all)
• An Annabelle Volume lip gloss in a lovely shimmery light pink (my mum threatened to steal) 

• Two Wet n Wild Idol Eyes cream shadow pencils in 'Techno' and 'Distress' (oh the irony, techno does in fact distress me)

And last but in no means least:

• A Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr eyeshadow in Tenacious Teal. I was super excited to get this, partly because I had read many great things about them, and of course the usual story, we cannot get them in Australia.  Not to mention my true love for anything and all things teal.

All in all, I love beauty swaps, this is my second, and I was not disapointed, I love getting mail in general, but a package of makeup is brills, and a package of surprise makeup is even brillser (yeah, its a word now)

Thoughts?  I know qa few of us took part in this swap, did anyone not get gifts? or get a disapointing gift?

I'm going apologise immediately for the lack of photos in this post, really its just a wee rant about the course I started...
The course itself runs twice a year, so you would think they would be relatively organised.  They're not.
The kit cost $255 so you would think it would have a reasonable array of goodies.  It does not.
Thankfully the lovely lass Ange, who is taking the course is:
1. Immensely knowledgeable
2. Completely open to suggestion...She has said I can 'go nuts' on my folio, as long as I have my 1. bridal, 1 day look and 1. mens makeup, I may do whatever I want for the rest....excellent....its what I wanted to hear
3. She admits she is still learning (not in a 'I'm new to this' way but rather a 'I love everything about makeup so there is always room for improvement' way
3. Believes this course should be about as much practical stuff as possible, you can't learn makeup skill from a book alone
4. Had stunning eyeliner, I know hairdressers cannot be judged by their hair because they don't cut it themselves, it is absolutely fair to say a makeup artist probably does do their own makeup and as such is presenting their skills right in front of you.

Having said all of that, I read this today...I mean, of course I did, its on Makeup Utopia....
I don't ever plan to be a full time makeup artist, would love to, but it will never happen.  What I want to do is be an after hours makeup artist, so I can still work my day job...based from home...really so I can justify my makeup collection...
